Goal-attack Kanika Paul-Payne helped TSTT complete its secondary goal after missing out on playing for the Championship Division's league title in the Courts All Sectors Netball League.
On Thursday at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya, Tunapuna, TSTT boosted by 22 goals from 29 attempts from Paul-Payne upstaged Jabloteh, 31-25, to finish fifth in the 10-team division.
TSTT dressed in their new playing attire in memory of late teammate Sophia Harper, who passed away earlier this year from cancer, wearing a black t-shirt with a picture of Harper in one of its past netball uniforms, was challenged from the first pass.
The "Telephone Girls" closed the opening quarter tied, 4-4 with opening shooting pair Jocelyn Marcelle, the goal-shooter, and Paul-Payne working in the circle.
TSTT became more aggressive in the second period and pulled ahead at the half, 15-12. Later, coach Grace Parkinson-Griffith later replaced Marcelle with Candace Gibbs in the goal-shoot position and she was good for five off 13 tries as they maintained their lead at the end of the third, 23-19.
In the final session, Jabloteh through its offensive duo Jabloteh, goal-shooter Giselle Hobson scored 12 of 27 and goal-attack Samantha Lewis, 13 in 28, tried to recover but could not and had to settle for sixth place.
The win by TSTT as well as the remaining season is being dedicated to Harper.
Earlier, the University of T&T (UTT) failed to show, gifting Police X the seventh place in the division.
The 30th edition of the league continues today at the Centre of Excellence as its original venue, Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua lies in close proximity to the National Racquet Centre, which is being used as a national quarantine facility during the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
All health protocols remain so each participant is required to wear masks except when playing or officiating on the court. Players are asked to arrive no earlier than ten minutes before the start of their respective matches and leave immediately after the matches.
In action today, the champion of the Championship Division will be crowned when Open Campus takes on Fire at 2.15 pm, following the third-place playoffs between Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) Sparks and Bermudez from 1 pm.
Also to be decided this evening is the champion of the Steve Sargeant Challenge (SSC), a knockout competition for teams in the Premiership Division. The finale is scheduled to pass off at 5.30 pm.
