T&T's bocce team won silver medal at the Special Olympics World Games yesterday. The U02 quartet of Gary James-Boodoo, Alicia Khan, Michaellene Hosein and Kenrick Baksh brought home SOTT's first medal at the World Games, winning two games and losing two. Serbia won the gold medal, winning all four of its matches, while the United States was third, finishing without a victory.
James-Boodoo got the ball rolling nicely for T&T, beating the USA's Barbara Green 13-2. However, the 29-year-old couldn't get over his much more experienced opponent from Serbia, and was beaten by 50-year-old Zoran Markovic 13-6.
SOTT rebounded once again against the USA, as James-Boodoo took care of Green for a second time 16-1. However, when the country faced Serbia for a second time, the locals were beaten 15-6.
