The first ever international billiards encounter between T&T and Guyana ended on Sunday with the hosts coming out with an emphatic win at Golden Arches II in Curepe.
The match, which was a race to eleven victories, saw T&T winning 11-3. The individual games were a race to five.
T&T went into the night with a 6-1 advantage after the first of the two-phase match affair started on Friday night at Pit ‘N’ Pub, also in Curepe and quickly made it 7-1 when Lyndon Ramkissoon beat Anthony Xavier 5-2 in a game that was held over from the opening night.
Following that encounter, the second draw was made and host captain Aaron Raghoonanan was paired with Xavier to play in the opener.
Raghoonanan handed Xavier his second loss of the night, winning 5-1. Damien Bisnath also recorded a similar scoreline over Ryan Rambalak to give T&T an 8-1 advantage.
Sean De Souza, Guyana’s best player, pulled a game back for the visitors with an emphatic 5-0 win over Lyndon Ramkissoon.
But the pair of Adrian Bajnath and Imran Ramjewan gave the hosts a 9-2 advantage after beating the visiting pair of Xavier and Steven Persaud 5-1. Menon Herera also played flawless pool in demolishing Kamil Hussain 5-0. Kamil Hussain gave Guyana something to cheer about when he beat Ravi Goorah 5-3 and Vishaal Singh registered the third shutout of the night, beating Persaud in five straight frames.
