T&T's team led by captain Ahkeel Boyd and includes his brother Ahkeem Boyd, Jael Lewis and Mikhail Phillip finished in the eighth position in the 3X3 basketball Under-23 men's tournament at the first Youth Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia on Sunday, the final day of the Games which started on November 25.
In the play-off for seventh and eighth positions, T&T went under to Argentina 22-12. For T&T Ahkeel Boyd led the team scoring with seven points, Phillip supported with four and Lewis added 1.
After losing to Chile 19-14 on Saturday in the quarter-finals, T&T then faced Brazil in the 5th to 8th semifinals play-off for 7th and 8th positions and lost 21-12 behind five points each from the Boyd twins, while Phillip and Lewis added one point each.
On Thursday, T&T won its first match by default over Dominica and on Friday, T&T beat El Salvador 22-13 and lost to the Dominican Republic 21-8, but still qualified for the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, in the individual shoot, Ahkeel, who qualified for the medal round of the individual shoot-out with five of his ten shots on Thursday after topping the preliminaries, scored seven in the finals but his effort saw him finish fourth with seven points. The Winner from Chile with 17 points.
T&T come away from the inaugural edition of the championships with two medals.
Kelsey Daniel won silver in the men's long jump, while his cousin and fellow Parlatuvier villager Tyriq Horsford won bronze in the men's javelin.
