T&T's Johnny Hamilton was huge offensively for Fenerbahce Beko on Sunday, helping his team seal its third straight win this season comfortably taking down Fethiye Belediye, 113-74 in the Basketball Super League at the Ulker Sports Arena in Turkey.
The Rio Claro-born basketballer scored an impressive team-high 18 points and secured seven rebounds to help Fenerbahce dominate the winless Fethiye Belediye after round three of the regular season.
The local post-player, who began his college career at Jacksonville College, before moving to NCAA Division I programme Virginia Tech and playing his final season for UT Arlington was among six players scoring in double-figures. The others were Jarell Eddie, who matched Hamilton's 18, guard Ali Muhammed (17), power forward Berkay Candan (16), guard/forward Dyshawn Pierre (13) and forward/centre Jan Vesely (10).
In its previous Super League match last Sunday (October 4), Fenerbahce under new coach Igor Kokoskov, defeated Besiktas, 83-74 with six-feet Hamilton, a former player with Turkish team Darussafaka, scoring four points, grabbing two rebounds and had two assists.
Hamilton's new team, which has also made a flawless start to the Euroleague with victories over Crvena zvezda 77-63 on the opening day (October 2) and Anadolu Efes (80-71) on Thursday, resume action tomorrow (Wednesday) taking on CSKA. Then the unbeaten Fenerbache will face off against Bayern Munich on Friday before meeting Gaziantep in Super League action.
The season began with restrictions on attendances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with 11 of the 18 Euroleague teams, including Turkish clubs Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce, playing without spectators.
