With the tournament trophy already on the way to Mumbai, the West Indies will be playing for pride when they meet India in their third match of the MyTeam11 T20 series at the Providence Stadium in Guyana at 9.30 am.
The Indians won both matches at the Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale,USA and will be looking for a clean sweep. In the first game, India won by four wickets in a low scoring encounter and the second game was affected badly by lightning and rain, with India running away with a 22-run victory under the DLS method.
The series is packed and will be testing on the players physically. They left early yesterday morning for Georgetown and will take the rest of the day off, as they hit the ground running early this morning.
Although the series is lost, the venue is expected to be packed, as the Guyanese fans here are excited about the fact that they are having international cricket in their backyard.
Indian captain Virat Kohli has already said that the Indian team will be looking to experiment and "bring few guys in" for the final match of the T20I series.
"Winning is always going to be a priority. But sealing the series gives the chance to bring few guys in. The idea is always going to be to win first. But winning the first two games gives the cushion," said Virat Kohli.
The likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, leg-spinner Rahul Chahar and fast bowler Deepak Chahar are yet to get a look in. Rishabh Pant, batting at No.4, and Manish Pandey have failed to make an impact with the bat.
The West Indies may give an opportunity to others who didn't get a chance in the first two matches because with the ICC World T20 tournament in Australia in October next year in mind, they would want to give many players a chance to impress as they bid to find the correct personnel in place to defend the title they won in 2016.
Meanwhile, Cricket West Indies interim selection panel named Fabian Allen to replace for Khary Pierre for the third match.
Allen, 24, has so far played nine T20 Internationals and 10 One-Day Internationals. He last played for West Indies in the recent ICC Cricket World Cup in England where he made his maiden half-century at the international level.
