On Thursday, City and Guild/ILM T&T held its annual celebration of City and Guilds Medal of Excellence/ILM Fellowship and Membership Awards 2015 at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Maraval.Key speakers included Charles Moore, charge d'affaires, British High Commission; Linda Mohammed, managing director, Trinzuela Technical and Vocational College; Sandra West, principal, Automation Technology College; Blair Ferguson, executive director, Kenson School of Production and Technology; and Sue Carlton, City and Guild representative, T&T.
Mike Dawe, City and Guild director of International, and Becky James, director of Business Development and Sales, Institute of Leadership and Management, addressed the gathering through video presentations.In his message, Dawe informed the gathering that City and Guild always looks forward to the annual event as it's such a wonderful way to celebrate the successes of so many deserving people.
These are people, he said, "who have done everything in their power to learn and develop their skills, and tutors and trainers who have been recognised for supporting others to achieve their goals."Dawe said City and Guild was about "more than skills and qualifications, or jobs."They exist, he said, to ensure that people are prepared to contribute to successful businesses and thriving economies around the world, not only today, but also in the future."
City and Guild Medals for Excellence programme has been recognising the outstanding achievement of people who have taken City and Guild qualifications since 1879.
This year, City and Guild awarded 69 medals in the UK and 35 medals internationally, nine of which were awarded to learners and trainers in T&T.
Kenson School of Production Technology produced three winners, which included Trevor Collette, Medal of Excellence Outstanding Achiever of the Year for City and Guilds Level 3 International Vocational Qualification Advance Diploma–Oil and Gas Process Technician, and Melissa Mohammed, Medal of Excellence Outstanding Achiever of the Year for City and Guilds Level 3 IVQ Advance Diploma–Oil and Gas Operations (Electrical Maintenance Technician).
Trinzuela Technical Vocational College's Govind Sookramisingh copped a Medal of Excellence International Learner of the year Award for 0610, Level 2 Process Technology Chemical Process International Vocational Qualification, and Yazid Emamdeen, Medal of Excellence Outstanding Achiever of the Year (tutor/lecturer) for Level 3 International Vocational Qualification–Advance Diploma Information Technology Tutor.
From Automation Technology College, Haram Mc Lean copped the Medal of Excellence Learner of the Year for Level 5–IVQ Advance Technician Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Amir Sabir, Medal of Excellence Learner of the Year for Level 2 Oil and Gas–IVQ Advance Technician Diploma in Process Technology–Petroleum Operations (QCF); Keston Cato, Medal of Excellence International Learner of the Year Award for Construction–Level 2 IVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation; Safiyyah Wahid, Medal of Excellence Outstanding Achiever of the Year (Tutor/Lecturer) for Level 2–Oil and Gas Diploma in Process Technology–Petroleum Operations (QCF).
