An unemployed man appeared before a Scarborough magistrate yesterday charged with being in possession of jewelry belonging to murder victim James Morris.His relative and another man, currently behind bars, are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today charged with Morris' murder.Morris, 67, a contractor, was chopped to death at his Mt Pleasant, Tobago, home on April 2, during a robbery. He was a frequent caller to radio talk shows and was known as Mr Mt Pleasant.
In court yesterday, there appeared to be a mix-up with the documents when Sterlone Romeo, 27, of Mt Pleasant, appeared before Magistrate Glen Mahabir, in the Scarborough Magistrates Court. The court documents bore the name of his relative.Romeo is accused of being in unlawful possession and receiving jewelery belonging to Morris. He was denied bail and remanded into custody to reappear on May 15. PC Robley of the Scarborough CID laid the charges.Police said two other men aged 26 and 31 are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today charged with murdering Morris. The matter is expected to be transferred to the Scarborough Magistrates Court in Tobago, the district where the alleged crime was committed. Investigations are continuing.
