Relatives of murdered street vendor Ralph Peters are still coming to terms with his death as police search for his killer who shot him in the head after they argued over a pie.Speaking with the media yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, Peters' wife, Antoinette Richards, said her husband was a kind man who never harassed anyone and had been selling on the corner for over ten years without any incident.
Both Richards and Peters' sister, Suzette Peters, questioned what was happening in T&T.Police said the shooting took place around 1.15 pm on Tuesday while Peters, who lived at Picton Road, Laventille, was selling fruit at the corner of Duncan and Queen Streets, Port-of-Spain.They said the gunman, who was captured on closed-circuit cameras, fired three shots. They know for whom they are looking and believe an arrest will be made soon.
Police at the nearby Duncan Street Police Post said they heard three shots, saw Peters bleeding at the side of the road and took him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he later died.Peters' killing has pushed the murder toll to 208 for the year.There were 185 murders for the same period last year.
