Two of the four suspects charged with the attempted robbery at the Bank of Baroda on June 6 have each been granted $450,000 bail. Chevallier Craig and Keston Jackie were granted bail yesterday when they reappeared in court before Magistrate Melvin Daniel in the Port-of-Spain Fourth Court. Craig and Jackie along with Anton Smart and Dexter Black are charged with the offence.
It is alleged that on June 6 at the Bank of Baroda, Independence Square, they assaulted senior manager Sandip Sinat with intent to rob him; robbed credit manager Ranjit Kumar of TT $1,600 in cash during which they used personal violence; robbed security guard Dexter Olbino of one bulletproof vest, valued $5,000, and unlawfully damaged a glass door, valued at $3,000.
The four are charged with five counts of falsely imprisoning Dexter Olbino, Kyle Ambrose, Sandip Sinat, Ranjit Kumar and Mahadeo Meena; and two counts of assault with intent to rob manager Mahadeo Meena and security guard Kyle Ambrose. Smart and Black have been denied bail and remanded in custody to July 6. They both have pending matters, the court heard.
