The West Indies' international schedule would have likely played a role in the selection process as its itinerary against Pakistan in the Caribbean (April 21 to May 24) coincides with that of the IPL (April 8 to May 22). Ramkessoon said it was unfortunate that so few players would get the opportunity to gain the valuable exposure on offer in the League. "The lack of West Indians being able to land contracts is an area of concern. Once you play at that level against the best players in the world, it makes you a better player and gives you a lot more confidence," said Ramkeesoon.
