T&T writer Lisa Allen-Agostini took up the inaugural Dame Hilda Bynoe Writer-in-Residence position at St George's University (SGU), Grenada, in January. The residency is an initiative of SGU and the organisation CaribLit.
Applications for the residency were invited from emerging or established writers of Caribbean birth or citizenship, and were vetted by a team of Caribbean literary experts.
A release said the residency is 15 weeks long, of which six weeks will be devoted to readings, workshops and other engagements with the students, staff and faculty of SGU and the wider Grenada community.
The author of the children's novel The Chalice Project (Macmillan Caribbean), and co-editor of Trinidad Noir (Akashic Books), Allen-Agostini is also a T&T Guardian columnist, editor of the Sunday Arts Section in the Sunday Guardian, and a freelance writer. She was shortlisted for the 2013 Hollick Arvon Caribbean Writers Prize.
Prof Antonia MacDonald, a lecturer in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences (SGU), will steer the residency.
