The local media fraternity is mourning the death of veteran journalist Ken Thomas, former head of news at ISAAC 98.1 FM, who died Saturday after a long struggle with stomach cancer.Thomas, 65, was an early MATT member and started his journalism career with the now defunct Daily Mirror in the late 1960s.He later worked as the Guardian representative in Tobago and served in that position for five years.He also from Scarborough Tobago, for NBS Radio 610, before migrating to Canada where he served for many years as the CANA correspondent in Toronto and also wrote for the Trinidad Express.
Additionally, Thomas worked as photographer locally and in North America.As a journalist, Thomas also did assignments for Radio Antilles and was the presenter for ten years of the annual Christmas greeting programme featuring student and other Trinbagonians residing in Canada, which was broadcast on Radio Trinidad.Thomas passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Diego Martin home around 12.15 pm on Saturday.He leaves to mourn a wife and two sons.
