A Gas­par­il­lo fa­ther of two who went on a ram­page, beat­ing two broth­ers and dam­ag­ing their ve­hi­cle with a pig­foot on Sun­day, yes­ter­day was re­mand­ed in cus­tody af­ter he plead­ed guilty.Act­ing Deputy Chief Mag­is­trate Ra­jen­dra Ram­bachan de­ferred pass­ing sen­tence on Ri­car­do Charles, 34, un­til No­vem­ber 14, pend­ing a trace of his crim­i­nal records.Charles, who did not have a lawyer, ap­peared in the San Fer­nan­do First Mag­is­trates' Court charged with as­sault­ing Andy Richard­son, caus­ing ac­tu­al bod­i­ly harm, as­sault­ing his broth­er, Ri­car­do, by beat­ing, and ma­li­cious­ly dam­ag­ing Ri­car­do's car to the val­ue of $6,200.

The in­ci­dents oc­curred on Sun­day night at Lums­den Street, Gas­par­il­lo. PC Bar­ry Moo­choon laid the charges.Charles said he and Richard­son were friends but two weeks ago they had a "fall out" over some girls.He said on Sun­day he went to watch a foot­ball match and Richard­son ap­proached him to talk. "I had noth­ing to say to him," he said.

Charles said he went to the near­by bar to have some drinks and Richard­son ap­proached him again.It was at that point, he ad­mit­ted, he took the pig­foot and "brace him. I re­al­ly mash up the car," he added.Richard­son, whose right hand was in a sling and had a ban­dage over his right eye, at­tend­ed court with his broth­er.Pros­e­cu­tor Ram­dath Phillip told the court at around 7.30 pm Moo­choon was on du­ty at the Gas­par­il­lo Po­lice Sta­tion when Ri­car­do Richard­son made a re­port by tele­phone.

Moo­choon went to Lums­den Street, where he met the broth­ers and they showed him a ve­hi­cle with its front wind­screen and three win­dows smashed and dam­age to the doors and steer­ing wheel. Both men had in­juries, he said.They point­ed to Charles, who was near­by, and said:"Of­fi­cer, this is the man who beat me up and mash up the car with a pig­foot."When con­front­ed with the re­port Charles said: "Yes, I did that. I am sor­ry, I get vex."
