Moore thanks PM for opportunity
After having her appointment as Minister of Justice revoked yesterday, Tobago-born Christlyn Moore thanked Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar for having given her the opportunity to serve the country.
In a statement to the media yesterday, Moore said: "Twelve months ago I was appointed Senator and Minister of Justice in the 10th Parliament of the Republic of T&T. I have had the good fortune to serve my country at the level of the Cabinet and I must pay homage to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar for affording me such an opportunity." She wished new Justice Minister Emmanuel George success.
Moore said had it not been for the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) she would not have had the opportunity to serve and thanked her Tobago colleagues for "continuing their sterling contributions." She said the ministry was a new one with a difficult portfolio and it was staffed by "dedicated professionals who spared no effort in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.
"As I step away from the glare of public life, it is my sincere wish that the People’s Partnership Government will continue to deliver on the overwhelming mandate given in 2010. My support and appreciation is unconditionally available as we strive to make T&T a better place for all citizens," she said. Moore is an attorney by profession and was appointed last year after St Joseph MP Herbert Volney was fired from the Cabinet.
