Police have destroyed marijuana which they say had a worth of an estimated $2 million.
It was destroyed by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the San Juan district.
The exercise, coordinated by Senior Supt Inraj Balram and supervised by
Sgt Simeon Guelmo, they went to a house at La Fortune Extension, San Juan, where they conducted a search which resulted in
200 kilogrammes of marijuana and 400 marijuana seedlings being discovered in the vicinity of the property.
The officers also discovered a quantity of car parts which are believed to have been stolen.
And in an unrelated operation officers of the South Western Division Task Force Area West seized a quantity of marijuana and one shotgun.
In the exercise, coordinated by Senior Supt. Deonarine Basdeo and Senior Supt Sharon Gomez-Cooper, the officers went to a bushy area at Granville Extension where they discovered 4.5 kilogrammes of marijuana, 500 small marijuana trees, two buckets each containing 4.5 kilogrammes of marijuana, 500 seedlings and one shotgun. The drug has an estimated street value of $90,000.
The trees, seedlings and seeds were also destroyed.
