Residents of Sum Sum Hill, Claxton Bay, hid in their homes as a volley of gunfire rang out, leaving a man dead on Friday night.
Investigators believe Paul Kirk, 33, of St John’s Road, Claxton Bay, was shot multiple times at point-blank range. Kirk, 33, was liming at Sum Sum Hill when he was ambushed around 10.35 pm.
Resident Andy Nesbitt told police he was at home when the gunshots rang out.
When Nesbitt made checks, he saw Kirk lying motionless at the rear of Nesbitt’s house. Kirk was dressed in a white and gold-coloured shirt and three-quarter white pants.
A pair of white sneakers was nearby. The body was viewed by District Medical Officer Dr Ramrattan, who ordered it removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
Investigators collected crucial pieces of evidence at the crime scene, including 18 spent 9 mm shells, one live round, and a projectile.
Police said they have no motive as yet for the murder.
Officers of the Southern Division including Ag Insp Ramsaran and Sgt Reid, along with Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three Officers led by Cpl Ramoutar are continuing investigations.
