T&T has an issue with people going missing especially the “young ones” and therefore for this Carnival season, all adults must make it their priority to arrange proper supervision for them in your absence and also when they are with you out on the streets.

This statement was made yesterday by public relations officer of the Police Service ASP Michael Jackman during the CNC’s The Morning Brew.

Jackman advised adults to make a pre-arrangement location with their child or children in the event they get lost in the crowds.

Jackman said, “In the event that there is some sort of distraction and their child gets lost in the crowd make sure that they put certain measures in place such as a pre-arranged location where they can meet up so that we can avert the situation where children are lost and children are taken away with no trace…because we have an issue with missing persons and we want to take whatever possible to prevent these young ones from going missing.”

Jackman also advised people that when they are to leave their children and other people that depend on them, including the elderly, to ensure that responsible people are given the onus to supervise.

“Before they leave for their various events and outings and so on make sure that they are in a safe environment during the Carnival period. Certain things can be avoided; certain things can be evaded completely if they make proper arrangements for those in need of care. We do not want a season where persons will be living with regrets pre-Carnival, during and post-Carnival. We want safety and security for all,” Jackman said.
