An official Monster Energy team of professional freestyle bikers, along with some of the innovative freestylers from around the Caribbean will convene when T&T host its first ever regional BMX freestyle contest, the Monster Energy Bmx Freestyle Exams which is set to take place on the outside court of the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo on May 26.
Among the expected participants, apart from Monster's top freestylers, are members of St Maarten's freestyle community, as well as those from Jamaica, Barbados and Aruba.
This was made possible following a visit by former T&T professional BMX rider Tevlon Hall to St Maarten, in which the sport's pioneer has continued to promote and build ties in the sport within the region.
Hall, in his visit to St Maarten, met with president of the Youth Alternative Movement (YAM), Shawn Hodge and other stakeholders, in an effort to host an international action sports event on the small Dutch/French island, later this year.
According to Hall, this event, which is heavily based on tourism and the promotion of the sport within the Caribbean, can expect to see visitors including government officials, athletes and enthusiasts.
In their assistance of the venture, Hall has credited supporters, Monster Energy, Blue Waters, First Citizens, the Ministry of Sport, the Sport Company of T&T, the Tourism Development Company and Cascadia Hotel.
