The term "vox populi, vox dei" (the voice of the people is the voice of God) has been widely used by politicians over the years to validate their successes and the rejection of those who campaigned against them. It was used again on Monday night by Jack Warner to emphasise his victory and also to remind the Prime Minister of those words that she has so often used in the past. However, since Monday night some have now come forward to enter a caveat and to question the accuracy of the words themselves.
In many respects, that is the reflection of the fact that the social elites have gone into full-fledged panic mode in the face of a Jack Warner victory in Chaguanas West. The clearest expression of that panic can be captured in a blog comment posted by Michael Williams on July 28 at 7.26 pm which states in part as follows:
"Some CW people have been bought out and so are blinded. Did they ever wonder where the money was coming from? Can they face their children and teach them about ethics? Children are smarter than we think, and will one day see and understand what their parents did! The people of CW now will be held responsible for the safety and sanity of TNT if they put God out of their thoughts and vote for JW."
