Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner wants his Chaguanas West constituency to be the first to hold a public meeting when the United National Congress (UNC) resumes its Monday Night People's forum this month. Warner said it was announced in the Cabinet on Thursday that the party will start hitting the road again since the real issues affecting the people of T&T are not reaching them. Warner said the forum will be interactive and will give the hierarchy of the party a chance to hear from the people how their MPs and local government representatives are performing. The meetings will take place every fortnight.
Warner was at the time delivering the feature address at the annual Christmas dinner of the executive of the Chaguanas West Constituency on Thursday night at Gaston Court, Chaguanas. Speaking about his constituency, Warner said the people are happy since the PP government came into power. He said several roads have been paved and new roads will be developed to ease traffic congestion in the new year.
Warner said Chaguanas West is an example of the Prime Minister's mantra of serving the people. "We have been in government for seven months and I challenge anybody anywhere to tell us in seven months if any constituency has achieved what we as a constituency have achieved." Warner said what was achieved was not through his effort but through the work of the councillors on the Chaguanas Borough committee and the executive of the constituency.
