Murdered 15-year-old mother of one, Aleah Cain, was yesterday laid to rest following a funeral service at the Samuel David Simpson Memorial Funeral Chapel, Eastern Main Road, Laventille.According to police reports, around 11 pm on January 21, Cain, went to a parlour along the Belmont Circular Road with her boyfriend, 20-year-old Odelle Charles, when the two were shot at. Cain was hit once in the chest and was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she died.
During the sermon officiating minister Rev Janet Towine called on the congregation and in particular young people to be careful of the company that they kept."There are mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles who don't care about their children. If you love your children you would chastise them," Towine said, adding that parents ought to tell their children when they are going right and wrong.
During the eulogy read by Ariel Moses written by Cain's mother, Lauren, the congregation was told of the relationship between the two that went beyond mother and daughter to one of friends.Cain, Moses reveled in her eulogy, said that her daughter went from a girl to a woman at a young age but when faced with the challenge of caring for her baby, Sophie, she stood up to the challenge.
