On July 21, The Just Because Foundation (JBF) hosted their ninth annual H.O.P.E concert. A recent Facebook from the foundation describes the concert: “Launched in 2010, the H.O.P.E Concert is a unique childhood cancer awareness and fundraising event featuring childhood cancer patients of different ages and at varying stages of treatment sharing their talents via song, dance and music. H.O.P.E is our acronym that stands for Have Only Positive Expectations, which encapsulates our mission of Supporting Our Fighters, Celebrating our Survivors and Remembering Our Angels.”
Have Only Positive Expectations (HOPE) was definitely the right name for this show. The children, siblings, parents nurses and doctors alike, all came together to put on a fantastic show for friends and family of the JBF.
The performers consisted of singers, musicians, dancers, magicians, cemdians and even a mime! The range of talent and courage displayed by the member of the JBF was truely remarkable and one that can never be dupilcated. There was even a surprise dance by the JBF’s co-founder Chevaughn Joseph, who not only took centre stage but poured her heart and soul into the execution of the event.
Guiding the evening’s proceedings was non other than the other co-founder of the JBF, Noel Joseph, who made going from one act to the next lively and encouraging to the performers- along with his comedic commentary.
Altogether, the event was not only beatuifully executed but provided a relaxed evening for friends, family colleagues and well wishers to come together to support a cause that is much bigger than everyone together.
The JBF has been supporting children with cancer and their families for years and will continue to do so for years to come.
