I must have missed something because I cannot understand the objection by Dr Keith Rowley when Nizam Mohammed was nominated as chairman of the Police Service Commission, on the grounds that he is a politician, but he has no objection to the appointment of Prof Ramesh Deosaran.
The Constitution clearly states (sect. 126(1):
A person who:
(a) is a member of the House of Representative or the Senate or
(b) holds or is acting in any public office or has held any public office within the period of three years preceding his proposed appointment is not qualified to hold the office of member of a service commission.
Mohammed has been out of the House of Representative or the Senate for more than three years. Deosaran on the other hand had been a senator up to very recently, much less than three years. Why no objection to his appointment? Please enlighten me.
