Post elections, the heat continues.ILP St Joseph candidate Om Lalla still hasn't talked to former friend, UNC rival, Ian Alleyne."Eventually I will," Lalla said, expressing concern how Alleyne conducted himself in the recent by election. "But such is the nature of politics."Alleyne, expected back on television, will discover if his short-lived foray into politics has affected Crime Watch's credibility.
New PNM St Joseph MP Terrence Deyalsingh, emulating Alleyne's performance ethic, began working last Wednesday in St Joseph on road and housing issues, ahead of Wednesday's entry to Parliament. After ILP's failures, ILP chairman Robin Montano says recent developments "generally" have him disturbed.
And UNC's Suruj Rambachan is savouring delayed victory with yesterday's full UNC control of the Chaguanas corporation after ex-ILP councillor Faaiq Mohammed supported UNC. It was a turnabout of the tactic ILP leader Jack Warner used with PNM assistance, to oust Rambachan as Chaguanas mayor in 2009.UNC, which contested seven corporations in local government polls, now control six.
