Beetham Gardens has been earmarked for reconstruction and renovation works by the Housing Development Corporation.
Managing Director of the Corporation Jayselle McFarlane said six units will be renovated initially, however, new construction will yield an estimated 96 units upon completion, at an estimated cost of $3 million.
On Monday at the launch of the project, McFarlene said though the majority of work will be undertaken by the HDC, the residents of Beetham will benefit beyond their housing needs, as designated community liaisons will be engaged to ensure project continuity.
McFarlene also said the project will create the opportunity for residents to gain training and certification with accredited local training organisations such as the mic institute of technology.
Member of Parliament for Laventille East, Adrian Leonce and the Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds were present at the sod turning ceremony on Monday.
