A 44-year-old man who was recaptured by the police earlier this year more than a year on the run has been committed to stand trial in the High Court for allegedly attempting to murder his wife.
Roger Bissoo, whose addresses were given as Ramjohn Trace, Penal and Palm Drive, San Fernando, was also denied bail.
He is accused of attempting to murder his wife in February 2016.
The charge stemmed from an incident in which Bissoo allegedly doused Rachael Chadee with acid and stabbed her.
He was eventually arrested and charged.
He appeared before a San Fernando magistrate and sometime later was granted $100,000 bail.
While the preliminary inquiry was being heard, he skipped bail sometime in December 2019.
Police arrested him two months ago and he was denied bail. Prosecutor Cleyon Seedan lead evidence from eight witnesses and tendered their statements.
Neither the victim nor her mother gave oral evidence.
Bissoo was represented by attorney Suimongal Ramsaran.
After reviewing the evidence and submissions, Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor found that a prima facie case had been made out against the accused to stand trial in the High Court.
