The world is filled with too many materialistic demons and justice must be served for the murder of a "father and a hero".
That's according to friends of Shane Romanno Fernandez, 33 of Cunupia who shot and killed after attackers demanded his gold chain.
In the very same incident, a 74-year-old woman was shot and wounded by a stray bullet.
According to a police report, at about 7.49 pm on Wednesday, Fernandez was at Bonne Adventure Trace in Cunupia when he was approached by two masked men who demanded his gold chain.
Fernandez was then tased and shot multiple times.
He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he died while undergoing medical treatment.
The elderly woman who was close by during the attack was shot twice in the right hand. She was also taken to the medical facility where she was treated.
Speaking with the Guardian Media, close friends who reached out described Fernandez as "a man, who worked legitimately very hard to reach where he was at in life today."
"He was a hero to his children and for a gold chain, those materialistic demons took away those children's hero and father. Who is going to see that those children grow up to be good people in society? Is the good ones going boy. He was a true and loving friend to all... Always jolly and loved to party a lot. Always in the nightclubs but his dream was his children, " one of Fernandez's close friends said.
In an unrelated incident, at about 9.40 pm Wednesday two men, ages 36 and 26 were walking along Nelson and Duke Streets respectively when they were both struck by gunshots.
Police said the 36-year-old man was shot below the waist while the other victim was shot in the lower back.
They were both taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by police officers where they are still being treated.
