Twenty-nine-year-old Fredixon Tyndale was granted $350,000 or a $35,000 cash bail when he appeared before Port of Spain Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor yesterday charged with multiple gun-related offences.
Tyndale of St Ann's was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, shooting with intent, possession of a firearm with intent and possession of ammunition with intent by Cpl Caracciolo of the Belmont Police Station.
This follows investigations into a report of a shooting which occurred in Belmont on July 15th. Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department Operations Unit, the Inter-Agency Task Force Strike Team the Port of Spain Task Force, the Air Support Unit and the Canine Branch, conducted an exercise across several Divisions yesterday.
According to police reports, based on information, the officers proceeded to a basketball court in Port of Spain, where they found one Taurus pistol loaded with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition and an extended magazine containing 18 rounds of ammunition.
The same party of officers then ventured to a cemetery in Tunapuna where a search resulted in the discovery of 100 fully grown marijuana trees and 200 seedlings. The plants were subsequently destroyed. Investigations are ongoing.
