A Standard Two teacher is now warded in critical condition at the hospital following a brutal stabbing that occurred at a primary school in Arouca in full view of pupils on Monday.
A team of officials from the Ministry of Education including School Supervisors and the Student Support Services are currently at this time engaged in a meeting with the school principal in his office at St Pius Boy's RC School at Lopinot Road.
Information reaching the Guardian Media said that at about 2 p.m. the female teacher was brutally stabbed. Members of staff and pupils are said to be in shock and highly traumatized over the incident.
Details are still sketchy however shortly after the attack the teacher was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope where she was treated and warded in a critical condition.
When contacted officials at the ministry said they are still trying to gather information including the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The official at the ministry said an official statement will be released shortly.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
Efforts are at this time being made to organize professional counselling for members of staff and pupils.
