A young adult female with comorbidities is among eight people with COVID-19 who passed away over the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health’s daily update, the other recent fatalities were two elderly males, three elderly females, and one middle-aged male with comorbidities.
A healthy middle-aged male also died.
The deaths make 1,613 people to die with COVID-19 in the country.
The ministry also confirmed 138 additional infections from samples collected between October 15 and 18 making 54,405 people to be diagnosed with COVId-19 locally since March 12, 2020.
Active cases, however, decreased slightly to 4,266 after 193 people were deemed to have recovered.
Of these 176 people were released from home self-isolation as recovered community cases while 17 were discharged from public health facilities.
Up to yesterday, 612,861 people received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine of which 571,031 completed their regime.
