Police FC midfielder Kaaron Foster had his 2014/2015 Digicel T&T Pro League season came to an abrupt halt after he was slapped with a nine-match ban while team-mates Noel Williams and Theon Browne were hit with six match bans each.
This was for their involvement in a brawl which erupted mere minutes before the final whistle of a Round Two, Match Day Nine fixture against Pt Fortin Civic at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, on February 27. Headed by chairman, Attorney-at-Law Ricardo Williams, the Disciplinary Committee, which acts on behalf of, but independent of the League, met on March 5 and 9 with regards to the brawl involving both clubs which Pt Fortin won 3-1.
In handing down their punishments, the committee also gave consideration to the match commissioner's report, referee's report, video evidence and oral, as well as the FIFA Disciplinary Code 2011.
And in addition to Foster, Williams and Browne, Police duo, Jasimar Ashers and Shaquille Nesbitt will also serve two match bans while the club was slapped with a $15,000 fine.
Pt Fortin trio, Garyl Doldron, Glen Sutton and Andre Ettienne, have also been suspended for two matches each, while the club will have to pay a hefty fine of $20,000. Ironically, both Police and Pt Fortin were in action on Wednesday at the same venue where both recorded victories. In the opener, Jamille Boatswain scored a first-half brace as Pt Fortin Civic continued its climb up the table after spanking Play Whe San Juan Jabloteh 5-1 while Police FC needed a Makesi Lewis second-half double to hold off bottom club St Ann's Rangers 4-3.
Speaking after the match, La Forest, who previously coached defunct clubs, Joe Public and Ma Pau, as well as San Juan Jabloteh in the Pro League and Super League's Guaya United admitted his team was in poor form. "We are in a slump right now, dead last. So we would want to at least put some points on the board so that our players can start to feel like humans."
The no-nonsense coach added: "I'm here for the rest of the season for observation. Also the guys play pretty well but they lack what we call football discipline so I am trying to instil football discipline in them to get results."
Jason Spence, who started the season as coach, returns to his former position as team manager while former T&T and Rangers player and coach Dean Pacheco will continue to serve as assistant coach. Matches resume on Tuesday.
