Victor Manhin, son of the proprietor of the popular estate, Bertram Manhin, was excited as he shared his feelings on some of the attractions of the natural haven he manages. The picnic area is clean and serene, with plush trees and luscious grass suitable for ground picnicking.

Among the collection of species are: many hybrid species of Thai bougainvillea, dwarf ixoras, dwarf white frangipani (plumeria pudica) and yellow leaf duranta. These ornamental plants, most of which are produced right there in the nursery at La Vega Estate, were hand-selected by owner, Bert Manhin, who is an avid plant collector and enthusiast.
The Plant Shop offers: plants for indoors, shade, bedding; Ground Covers, Topiaries and Fruit Trees (such as: Rambutan, Carambola and Langsat from SE Asia; South American Sapote, Rollinia and Araza from Brazil, Peru, Canistel Ponteria Campechiana and Sapodilla from C America, Mamey from S & C America, Peewah from Brazil & Costa Rica, Pulasan and Duku from Malaysia, Miracle fruit, Dwarf Pomme Cythere, Santol, Durian, Dongs, Assorted Mangoes, Gandaria Bonea macrophylla and Pomelo Citrus grandis all from Thailand, Primrose, Plumrose, Balata and Jackfruit Artocarpus from Trinidad.)
