It seems like yesterday that Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her People's Partnership allies were chastising Calder Hart and the Patrick Manning administration for utilising the skills of foreign contractors and companies. Manning and Hart stood behind their reasoning of raising T&T to international building standards by bringing in these companies and contractors. Using foreign contractors would have an added benefit-their knowledge of superior and more efficient building practices would be inadvertently imparted to locals during the construction process, making Trinidad more competitive in the long run. Despite this logic, the PP campaign did a decent job of making Manning and Hart seem like they had no interest in bettering T&T nor had any faith in local contractors to get the job done. Now the PP Government is doing exactly what it chastised Manning and Hart for-it is bringing in foreign companies to develop Trinidad. This shows how much hypocrisy exists in politics and that the campaign accusations were nothing more than a tool to get the PP into office.
