Carib Glassworks it has been recognised with the Supplier Leadership on Climate Transition (Supplier LOCT) Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Scope 1 and 2 Footprint badge(s), showcasing their exemplary efforts in advancing Scope 3 reduction on a global scale
Supplier Leadership on Climate Transition (Supplier LOCT) serves as an educational platform for suppliers and a collaborative initiative between companies and their buyers (LOCT partners). It was established to accelerate actions almed at reducing carbon emissions within the supply chain.
In a news release yesterday, Carib Glassworks said it has achieved its first badge for completing the GHG Scope 1 & 2 Footprint assessment, underscoring the company’s commitment to GHG emissions reduction and adherence to industry standards.
Carib Glassworks is the first manufacturer in the region to attain this accreditation.
In 2022, ANSA McAL merged Carib Glassworks and ANSA Polymer under one packaging services umbrella, ANSA Packaging.
“At the centre of the strategy for this newly formed entity is to improve on the sustainability initiatives already in place and identify other areas for improvement. To do so, the company is working on establishing the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) baseline and working to increase the acreage of rehabilitated land at the Matura sand quarry,” according to ANSA McAL’s 2022 annual report.
Carib Glassworks operates the sand quarry in Matura for glass bottle manufacturing, but it also runs the only glass recycling and manufacturing plant in the English-speaking Caribbean.
Carib Glassworks is part of ANSA McAL’s construction, manufacturing, packaging and brewing segment, which generated $3.1 billion in third-party revenue in the financial year ended December 31, 2023, according to the group’s audited financials for 2023.
That is 44 per cent of $7.04 billion in third-party revenue generated by the ANSA McAL group in 2023, making the construction, manufacturing, packaging and brewing segment the largest generator of third-party revenue for the group.
