A select group of people will be able to access a second booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine from Friday at 19 sites across the country. Those eligible for the jab are those moderately to severely immunocompromised, those over 60 and healthcare workers.
"The decision to administer booster doses was made based on the findings of seven studies conducted on the effectiveness of a 2nd COVID-19 Booster. These findings were reviewed and approved by the World Health Organization’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) and the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group," a Ministry of Health release reiterated yesterday.
It will be administered to those members of the eligible groups who received their first booster four to six months prior and who have not had COVID-19 within the previous three months. On Wednesday, Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh said only the Pfizer vaccine will be used as the second booster. Second booster doses can be accessed at the following sites:
