An 18-year-old woman and her brother are being questioned by police in connection with missing Princes Town mother Kadijah Flament.
The siblings are close relatives of a female suspect who was detained days after Flament’s disappearance.
Police said the teenage suspect was arrested at her Ste Madeleine home on Monday while her brother went to the police station after learning that he had been wanted for questioning.
Flament’s boyfriend told police that on June 7 she left their Lothian’s Road, Princes Town home to visit her eight-year-old daughter who lived with a friend at Olera Heights in San Fernando.
But, she never returned home.
Since then police and relatives have conducted several searches for her body after information surfaced that Flament was killed, her body stuffed in a barrel and dumped in the old canefields in the Ste Madeleine.
Days later, the first suspect, a nurse, was arrested by the police. She reportedly gave them information regarding Flament.
However, the suspect was being kept under police guard in-home quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.
Almost two weeks ago, burnt human remains, including a skull, teeth and bones, were found in a rubbish dumping site at reform Road, Gasparillo, near the Brian Lara Stadium while officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three and the Air Surveillance Unit were searching for Flament.
DNA samples have since been taken from Flament’s mother Anastasia and sent for testing.
In a brief telephone interview, Anastasia’s mother said she heard a relative of the suspect was held and is hoping that her daughter’s body would soon be found.
She again appealed to anyone with information about her daughter’s disappearance to come forward. “If anybody knows anything, please come forward, say something.”
Meanwhile, she said they have halted their searches pending the results of the DNA tests.
