Over the past 24 hours, two more people have tested positive for COVID-19. There are now 620 current active infections on the island.
That’s according to the latest update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), dated Saturday 14 May 2022.
The THA Health Division report also notes that no new deaths have been recorded on the island over the past 24 hours, so the island’s death toll from COVID-19 remains at 267. The most recent COVID-19 death recorded was on Thursday 12 May 2022, with an unvaccinated person identified as the deceased on that date. Prior to May 12, the most recent death on the island was reported almost two weeks ago, on Sunday 1 May 2022. The deceased at that time also was an unvaccinated person.
In addition, the report shows that while COVID-19 infections in Tobago continue to climb, previously infected people are recovering from the disease, as another 43 people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
That means at present, the total number of people in Tobago who have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020, now stands at 8,365.
The Tobago COVID-19 update for 14 May 2022 also says that 14 people currently are hospitalised with COVID-19. Nine of these patients have not been vaccinated at all against the disease, while the other five patients have been fully vaccinated.
