A “Zesser” party that was to be held in the Gulf of Paria in what is commonly called ‘Down-the-Islands’, was brought to a complete halt when the Coast Guard intercepted a boat with 76 people.
They were all handed over to police, after breaching the Public Health Ordinance.
According to a statement by the Coast Guard, its members responded to a report of an overloaded motor vessel slipping berth from Alcan Bay, Chaguaramas.
The vessel was intercepted and escorted back to the bay where a head count was done.
The vessel contained 40 women and 36 men.
The Coast Guard, in the statement, reminding citizens and other maritime users that in accordance with the current Public Health Ordinance, “it is illegal to be part of any gathering exceeding ten people whilst engaged in any maritime activity.”
