The Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales MP, says taxpayers saved possibly millions of dollars after repair works were completed at Africa Road in Picton. The Minister said in total the repairs cost $150,000.
Since October 2021, Africa Road has been impassable due to water from the two main WASA tanks in the area eroding the roadway. Minister Gonzales said he believes the issue has been finally rectified. He thanked both WASA and the residents for doing their part.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Port of Spain, South Keith Scotland MP, apologised to residents for the delay in getting the repairs done and thanked them for their patience. He admitted that the issue going viral on social media jolted their response even though work was ongoing.
Minister Gonzales, MP Scotland and WASA officials toured East Port of Spain on Tuesday morning, to check up on similar repairs in the communities.
