Associated Brands Industries Limited (ABIL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with NGO, Habitat for Humanity Trinidad and Tobago (Habitat TT). The partnership is aimed at neighbourhood revitalization, disaster resiliency and the provision of shelter access to the most vulnerable.
The (MOA) between ABIL and Habitat TT was signed on April 27 with APIL pledging to invest a total of TT$1 million over a three-year period which will enable housing solutions through repairs, community projects and training of community members with a focus on disaster mitigation and building resilient communities.
ABIL Group CEO/Deputy Chairman Nicholas Lok Jack said, “As part of our mission to achieve social sustainability, ABIL has pledged to empower our communities and employees through this effort. We are pleased to support the important work of Habitat for Humanity who continuously impact and improve livelihoods through their community work.”
Derwin Howell, Chairman of Habitat TT added, “Hundreds of vulnerable families and communities will be transformed with the important work we undertake with this partnership. Our mission at Habitat TT is to improve our environment, mitigate disasters and ensure there are opportunities for sustainable growth and development.”
Commenting on the alliance, Sieunarine Coosal, Chairman of the Capital Campaign Cabinet of Habitat for Humanity stated, “We are particularly proud of the funding we have received from ABIL which solidifies our commitment to the development of communities.”
Lok Jack added, “Our commitment to our people, our community and the nation resonates in everything we do, and we remain dedicated to enriching the nation through our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.”
Lok Jack forms part of the Habitat’s Capital Campaign Cabinet (CCC), a role he accepted from his father, Mr. Arthur Lok Jack who also served for many years.
