A female suspect has been arrested for robbery which occurred at a supermarket on Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain yesterday morning following which a Chinese national was found bound and beaten.
Police said that in the early hours of Thursday morning, officers of the Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) Unit received a report of a robbery at a supermarket at the corner of George and Prince Streets.
Upon arrival, the officers saw a group of individuals who escaped through what is known as The Plannings.
The officers reportedly gave chase and recovered a 44-inch flat-screen television which was reported missing from the supermarket.
As the investigations continued, the officers returned to the supermarket and rescued the victim, a Chinese national, who was found bound and beaten.
Based on additional information, officers arrested a woman, aged 28, of Upper Layan Hill, Belmont, in connection with the robbery.
Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are continuing investigations.
