Dad and son charged for ammunition possession, obstruction
A father and son were scheduled to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate yesterday on charges of Obstruction, and Possession of Ammunition.
The two were held during a police exercise on Thursday morning along Bridge Road, Diego Martin. The exercise took place between 5 - 9 am by officers of the Western Division Task Force.
The officers were walking along a track in a forested area off Imbert Circular when they saw a man known to them exiting a house.
Police said the man was holding a PVC pipe in his hands. The officers then saw when the man looked in their direction, dropped the PVC pipe and ran away.
The officers gave chase and held him a short distance away and the PVC pipe was recovered.
The officers examined the PVC pipe and found three rounds of ammunition wrapped in a pair of underwear. The man was subsequently arrested.
The man’s father on seeing his son being arrested allegedly confronted the officers and obstructed them during the execution of their duty.
As a result, he was also arrested and charged by the police.
