North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (NDTF) of­fi­cers are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the seizure of $44,590 worth of Ke­t­a­mine at a couri­er com­pa­ny.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, the TTPS said at 2.30 pm on Thurs­day, NDTF po­lice of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to in­for­ma­tion which sug­gest­ed that a pack­age car­ry­ing nar­cotics was in tran­sit in the Aranguez area. Up­on ar­rival at a couri­er ship­ping com­pa­ny, rel­a­tive to a sus­pi­cious pack­age re­ceived from the Unit­ed States, po­lice ques­tioned the em­ploy­ees and a search was con­duct­ed.

Dur­ing the search, po­lice al­leged­ly found a yel­low-coloured pack­et con­tain­ing 15 sa­chets of 'gin­ger tea.’ The sa­chets were fur­ther ex­am­ined and three were found to each con­tain a plas­tic bag with a white crys­tal-like pow­dered sub­stance. A field test was con­duct­ed on the sub­stance and a pos­i­tive read­ing for Ke­t­a­mine was ob­tained. The three bags were weighed and amount­ed to 63.7 grammes with an es­ti­mat­ed street val­ue of $44,590. Ke­t­a­mine is a con­trolled sub­stance that is a dis­so­cia­tive anaes­thet­ic that has some hal­lu­cino­genic ef­fects.
