Police are searching for two men who attacked a United States citizen with cutlasses as she sat on the porch of her Penal home.
Investigators said Vinette Benjamin, 41, who has dual citizenship, was sitting on her porch at 10 pm on Holy Thursday when two men ran up to her.
One man, described as slim-built and approximately five feet, nine inches tall, approached her. He and his accomplice were dressed in hoodies and armed with cutlasses. Without warning, they started chopping Benjamin, inflicting several wounds on her body.
After the attack, the perpetrators fled the scene in a silver Nissan Wingroad.
Benjamin was promptly rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital by Emergency Health Services, where she remained warded in a stable condition yesterday.
Medical examinations conducted on Benjamin revealed significant lacerations to her left shoulder, left arm, right shoulder and left thigh. She also suffered bruising across her upper back and lower chest area.
The US Embassy has been notified.
