Police were up to late yesterday trying to identify the dismembered body of a man found in a bag over a precipice in Petit Valley.
Police said residents of Cameron Road made the discovery about 12.30 pm and called them.
Police said although there is a name to the victim that went viral on social media, they are still to confirm the identity. However, they said they are currently reviewing a list of missing people in the area in a bid to try to identify the victim.
A close relative of the man being named on social media posted that they are also yet to view the body.
“My family hasn’t viewed the body yet to confirm if it is my father. Until his children or a member of the family is notified with such information, this is false,” the relative wrote.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations are assisting with inquiries.
