A young adult female was one of eight people to succumb to COVID-19, the Ministry of Health revealed in its latest statistics yesterday.
The death of the young adult female brought to five the number of “young adult females” to lose their fight with the virus for the month of October thus far.
However, the Ministry of Health did not indicate if the person had comorbidities or not.
This month also saw a teenage girl dying from COVID. It is believed that teen became the youngest person to die from COVID in the country.
Yesterday, the seven other COVID fatalities included one elderly male, four elderly females and two middle-aged males.
Seven of those who died had comorbidities, while one did not. The ministry did not specify who that was.
In Tobago, an 80-year-old man with pre-existing health conditions died, taking the fatalities there to 95.
The national death toll yesterday stood at 1,629.
Meanwhile, 258 new positive cases were recorded yesterday.
A total of 577, 507 people in the country are also fully vaccinated.
