RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT
Investigations are continuing into a lost firearm belonging to a former police officer of Sangre Grande.
Guardian Media understands the 56-year-old former police officer is the holder of a Firearm Users Licence (FUL), and the owner of one Glock 9 mm pistol.
According to a police report, at about 3:30 pm on Monday, the man reported to the police that he was in an area off the Turure Road, Guaico, Sangre Grande, in the vicinity of White Boys Quarry, when he was attacked by a swarm of bees.
He told police he ran towards his vehicle which was parked a short distance away where he took refuge, but on checking, discovered that his firearm was missing. The weapon had been loaded with a magazine and 15 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, and had been tucked in his waistband, before the bees’ attack.
The man told police officers he waited for a couple hours before attempting to find the weapon, but despite his searches, was unable to locate the firearm. He said he returned the following day and again made unsuccessful searches.
Ag/Cpl Osouna and a team of officers from the Eastern Division Task Force, together with PC Phillip of the Crime Scene Unit visited the scene and conducted their own searches and observations. However, the firearm was not found.
Further enquiries are being conducted by Ag/Cpl Osouna.
