A Laventille man who managed to escape death two years ago was killed yesterday morning.
Police said Akil St John, 42, of Richardson Lane, was shot several times by gunmen as he exited his house after being called outside around 6.30 am yesterday.
Residents alerted the police and came out to find St John lying in his front yard, bleeding from several gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
St John’s killing has been described by investigators as gang-related.
And in a separate incident at Penco Avenue, Longdenville around 8.50 pm on Sunday – one man was shot dead while another was injured.
Residents reported hearing gunshots coming from Lewison Street and contacted police.
Officers arrived to find Sheldon St Clair, 35, of Penco Avenue, dead.
Officers were told by residents that a 21-year-old man had also been injured during the shooting and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remained in a stable condition up to yesterday.
