A 63-year-old man died on Monday hours after he was found in a cemetery in Williamsville with gaping chop wounds about his body.
Jairaj Ramlakhan of Garth Road, Williamsville, a labourer employed with the Princes Town Regional Corporation died at the San Fernando General Hospital.
Ramlakhan's nephew was at his home around 6 am when someone told him that his uncle had been chopped.
He went to Brothers Private Cemetery, Corial Road, where he saw his uncle lying on the ground covered in blood with several gaping wounds about his body, including his head and hands.
He stayed with him and tried to tend to his wounds while waiting for the ambulance.
Ramlakhan succumbed to his injuries around 2 pm at hospital. Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigation Region 3 are investigating.
